Figuring It Out Together
In the grand scheme of things, pandemic or not, businesses take lots of hits. It is hard to ignore the impact it can have on the psyche of owners and employees alike when things keep going left and work is just not working. Remembering that no one has the perfect blueprint to starting and maintaining a business is key, as it fosters the idea of forging solutions that work best for you, your business and your clients.
From working governments to kids in classrooms, the phenomenon of not having all your affairs in perfect order is common and rings true for most as a persistent hurdle. Planning ahead for a work week or month and having it go completely awry can be crushing, and getting things back in order even more so but then nature provides a cheat code: Asking others for help.
Even though it would be ideal for every person to be a lone, self-sufficient island with no need for assistance, the reality is that we all need to ask for help sometimes and that alone binds us together in our humanity. Asking for help in the business world could be outsourcing departments or asking your coworker from the next cubicle how rows work in excel; it encourages productivity and gels the workforce together.
It can be difficult to ask for help, for a plethora of reasons. Maybe you think it makes you look less than, or it bruises your ego, but remember that no one at the top got there alone. Essentially, asking for help takes nothing from a person or company. In fact, not asking for help when you obviously need it is more likely to be detrimental to you and your organisation.
So take stock of the gaps you are seeing and start reaching out to close them. Your future self will thank you.
