A progressive Small Business Accounting and Advisory practice is looking for an Accountant to join their Accra based office. The ideal candidate will be passionate about a career in accounting and advisory with several years of practice experience.

The clients’ core business is not just to ensure that management accounts are completed but are tasked with providing relevant and useful data as well as clear advice and interpretation that helps their clients make informed business decisions, including budgeting, forecasting and strategic planning. Additionally, they provide excellent statutory accounting service and take the lead on advisory projects where clients have requirements such as preparing consolidated accounting and reporting under standards such as IFRS and IFRS for SMEs.

The ideal candidate will be well-versed in accounting principles and able to work comfortably with numbers and attention to detail.

You will be required to meet and advise clients and then carry out any work that follows. You should have previous experience in a similar position and be comfortable dealing with clients on a regular basis.

This role would suit a confident, passionate candidate who is keen to develop their career in accountancy.

Daily Responsibilities

  • Maintain records for clients using various accounting software packages including Sage Line 50, Xero, Quickbooks.
  • Process transactions, prepare and post journals, update ledgers, perform bank reconciliation and cash book analysis as required to complete monthly reporting processes
  • Prepare both management and statutory accounts for clients from software packages for manager review.
  • Preparation and submission of monthly VAT Returns for multiple clients.
  • To prepare and submit corporation tax returns and computations.
  • Undertake financial close procedures e.g. reconciliation of inter-company balances, ledgers, preparation of journals and schedules
  • Using final accounts package to produce statutory accounts for review
  • Prepare year end accounting files ready for audit either by internal or external auditors

Requirements and Key Competencies

  • Good understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices in accordance with the laws of Ghana
  • Knowledge of local, state and federal laws regarding accounting, finances and taxation
  • Qualifications (ACA, ACCA, ICAG or CIMA either qualified or part-qualified) is a plus but not a requirement
  • First Degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant field a willingness to pursue a qualification in Financial or Management Accounting.
  • Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office especially especially excel
  • Knowledge of accounting packages preferred (Quickbooks, Sage, Xero)
